Email List

We have created an email list using Yahoo Groups.  This list is to be used to broadcast important information to members of our chapter and to other interested persons.  At this time, the ability to post messages to the list is restricted to Chapter Officers, and to the chairs of the various committees.  We anticipate that the number of emails sent to the list will be quite small.  In time, we may choose to use it (or create another one to be used) as an open forum where chapter members can engage in free-ranging discussions about topics of interest to Minnesota Master Naturalists.

But we will not expand the use of the list until, and unless, we agree as a chapter that this is an appropriate use for it.  We will not overwhelm your mailbox with unwanted email.

How to Subscribe

You are NOT required to have a Yahoo account and/or email address to subscribe to the list.  But if you do, the simplest way to join the list is to go to

http://groups.yahoo.com/tccmmn/join.

If you do NOT have a Yahoo account, you can send a blank email to

to request a subscription (but see the important note below).

Alternatively, you can  send an email to Steve Bachman (interim chair of the Electronic Communications committee) asking for an "invite'" to the list, and he will generate one for you.  You will receive this invite from Yahoo, and it will include the instructions you will need to confirm your subscription.  Send email to Steve at

A Note About the Confirmation Process

If you do NOT have a Yahoo account, and do not wish to create one, read the following.

When you are invited to join the list, or when you send a subscription request to the "tccmmn-subscribe" address above, you will get an email that includes a link that you must click on to confirm your subscription.   When you do, you will be presented with a web page from Yahoo that makes it look as if you MUST create a Yahoo account in order to subscribe to the list.  This is NOT true.  Look for the small, obscure, link at the bottom of the page that reads:

"as an alternate option you may join the mailing list instead"

Go ahead an click on this link to join the mailing list.  If you want to create a Yahoo account and to join the group, just be aware that email to you will be sent to your newly-created Yahoo account only (and not to whichever account you may use for other purposes).  There really is no benefit to being a member of "the group" as opposed to just the "mailing list" as we do not plan to take advantage of Yahoo's group functions.  We are just making use of the mailing list function.

(If you'd like to see an example of what the confirmation page will look like, click here. The link that you will want to click on is circled--crudely--in red.)
