CHAPTER OFFICER ELECTIONS

Believe it or not, we’ve made it through our first formal year as a Chapter with Chapter Officers and it’s time again to elect Officers for the coming year! As you may recall, the Bylaws indicate that we need to stagger the elected positions with one and two year terms.  As such, the Secretary and Vice President positions are up for election this year.  Here is a bit of the formal information related to the positions.

The duties of the Officers are to conduct the business of the Chapter as defined by the State program Bylaws or desired and approved by the Chapter members.  The Chapter Officer positions up for elections and their respective duties are as follows:

  • Vice President /President –Elect – Acting in President’s absence, assuming role of President at expiration of President’s term.
  • Secretary – taking meeting minutes and distributing them to the membership, maintaining all records of the Chapter  including membership information , preparing required reports.

Nominations for officers will be accepted in writing prior to our September 14th Chapter meeting. This is a perfect opportunity to further develop this Chapter and in doing so help progress the mission of the MN Master Naturalist to also develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within our communities.  Those interested will need to submit in writing which position your interested in, why you are interested in the position, and what you can bring to the position. Self -nominations will need to be submitted no later than September 9th. You can submit your self-nomination to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. If you have any questions, feel free to contact any of your current Chapter Officers. So plant your seed and help the Chapter grow!!!
Thanks,

Ilene Coon, President

2011 DUES REGISTRATION FORM

We welcome new and current Minnesota Master Naturalists to our Twin Cities Chapter. If you wish to join, please complete the below membership form (PDF) and send it in with your dues. These dues are important to the Chapter as they help to provide for things such as any necessary stipends to our speakers, contributions towards possible entrance fees for our field trips, providing resources for completing service projects, and helping to provide refreshments for our meetings.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, AND AN IMPORTANT POLL

Greetings Twin Cities Chapter of Minnesota Master Naturalists.

We have a full agenda and great speaker for our upcoming chapter meeting on Wednesday, November 10th. More to come on that later! This will be our last chapter meeting of 2010, and your newly elected officers are very excited about and looking forward to another great year for our chapter in 2011.

As we look forward to 2011 one of our goals is to increase our chapter membership and meeting attendance.  We thought one way to address this would be to solicit our membership and see if there would be a week and/or day of the month that would make it easier for people to attend our meetings.  Currently we are meeting bimonthly on the second Wednesday of the month. As such, we’d like to get your input on your preference regarding which week and weekday you'd like to see for our chapter meeting schedule in 2011. It is our intent to use your input to put together the chapter meeting schedule for 2011 and have that available during our November 10th meeting.

Please submit your week and day of choice, i.e. "2nd Wednesday," by Thursday November 4 to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

We also are still looking to fill the chapter secretary position.  The primary functions for this position are: taking meeting minutes and distributing them to the membership, maintaining all records of the chapter including membership information and, preparing any required reports . If you have a knack for this, or think you’d like to be more active in assisting the chapter develop and grow, please include your interest and name along with your preference for meeting week and day of choice.

Hope everyone has been enjoying this fantastic fall season, and we look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in our upcoming chapter meeting.

Ilene Coon
President, TCCMMN
