Date: September, 24, 2011
Time: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Place: Lake Elmo Regional Park
Birding enthusiasts,
Chase Davies and other St. Paul Audubon birding leaders will facilitate a field trip to Lake Elmo Regional Park on September 24th, from 8-11 AM.
Come ready with binoculars and camera. (There will be a few extra binoculars to loan). Birds seen on September walks in recent years include residents of woodlands and prairie, fall migrants including yellow-rump and other warblers, and up to a dozen different sparrows.
There is a $5 per-vehicle daily or $25 Washington County annual pass needed to enter Lake Elmo Regional Park. Consider car-pooling.
We will meet at the first large parking lot on the left side of the road, about 1/2 mile into the park beyond the fee station. Dress for slow walking and standing around. It could be somewhat sunny or buggy. Consider carrying a pocket snack and water bottle.
This qualifies as an advance training event. Chase will address the issues and mechanics of leading a bird walk when you are not the expert. ("The usual case," she says.)
Registration: Send e-mail before September 16 to Jeanne Jensen at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please put “Birding Event” in the subject line.
Directions to site: Travel east on I-94 - 2.5 miles beyond the junction of 94/494/694 to exit 259, Keats Ave/county road 19. Follow county road 19 to the North - across county road 10 and into the park.
